PMAC was appointed to clean the exterior of an apartment complex in Ballsbridge. Over time, dirt, pollution, algae, and environmental buildup had stained the façade and surrounding surfaces. As a result, the overall appearance of the property had declined.

The project aimed to safely restore the façade while protecting delicate materials such as Techrete panels, render, and cladding. Because these finishes can be sensitive to pressure, the cleaning work required specialist methods and experienced technicians. The team also needed a safe plan to access higher areas of the building

PMAC’s Task

First, the PMAC team cleaned the entire apartment block façade using low-pressure, high-temperature steam cleaning. This method removes grime, grease, oil, organic growth, and carbon deposits while protecting the surface.

Next, the team steam cleaned and chemically treated all Techrete panelling to remove staining and restore its finish. At the same time, technicians cleaned all external windows and frames, including glazing in the internal common areas. As a result, the building looked noticeably brighter and more presentable.

To reach higher sections safely, the team used a MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform). Our trained and certified operators managed the equipment throughout the project ensuring safe and efficient work at all times.

Why cleaning an apartment complex matters

Regular exterior cleaning helps maintain apartment buildings. Over time, pollution, algae, and dirt collect on façades. Consequently, buildings can start to look neglected.

However, professional cleaning restores the appearance of the property and improves the living environment for residents. A clean building also creates a better impression for visitors, tenants, and potential buyers.

In addition, cleaning helps protect building materials. For example, algae and moss trap moisture against stone and render. If left untreated, this moisture can lead to staining and gradual surface damage. Therefore, routine façade cleaning acts as preventative maintenance and can reduce future repair costs.

This project highlights how professional façade cleaning can restore and protect an apartment complex. Using low-pressure steam cleaning and specialist treatments, the PMAC team removed dirt, pollution, and organic growth from the building’s exterior.

As a result, the property now looks cleaner and more welcoming. In addition, the process helps identify any damage early, which supports long-term maintenance and protection of the building.
