Ceramic Tile Maintenance

Maintenance for long-lasting beauty

Client: Mango, Retail Store

Ceramic tiles are one of the most popular choices for flooring in homes and businesses across Ireland. They are loved for their durability, affordability, and ease of maintenance. In particular, ceramic tiles are a great fit for high-traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms. However, keeping them in top condition does require some know-how. In this blog, we’ll guide you through the steps to properly maintain your ceramic floors and explain why a professional deep clean is essential at least once or twice a year.

Routine Cleaning and Maintenance

To maintain the shine of your ceramic floors, regular cleaning is essential. Here’s how you can keep them in great shape on a daily basis:

  • Mop Weekly: Use warm water mixed with a low-sulphate detergent to mop your ceramic floors. At PMAC, we recommend our product, Stone Soap, a pH-neutral cleaner that helps maintain the integrity of the tile surface. In high-traffic areas, it’s best to mop more frequently to avoid dirt build-up.
  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: You should avoid using bleach-based products, strong degreasers, or high pH cleaners, as these can damage both tiles and grout. Instead, choose gentle cleaners designed specifically for ceramic tiles.
  • Use a Flat Mop: A flat mop is more efficient at removing surface dirt without scratching or damaging your tiles.

Even with regular cleaning, ceramic floors will eventually need a deep clean. Dirt can become trapped in both the tile surface and the grout lines, and normal mopping might not be enough to remove it. That’s where professional help comes in.

At PMAC, we use high pH floor cleaning products and advanced equipment to eliminate all the dirt absorbed into your tiles. Our deep cleaning process includes:

  • Mechanical Scrubbing: We use a special contra-rotating agitation machine to gently scrub the tiled surface and grout, lifting out deeply embedded dirt and grime.
  • Rinse and Extract: Once the dirt is loosened, we extract it from the tile and grout to ensure a thorough clean that regular methods simply can’t achieve.
  • Grout Restoration: Grout is particularly prone to staining. Our process deep cleans the grout, restoring it to its original colour.

Ceramic Tile Polishing

Polishing adds shine to your tiles, protects them from stains, and makes them more dirt-resistant. This extra step keeps floors looking fresh and reduces cleaning frequency, making it ideal for both low- and high-traffic areas.

Ceramic Floor Sealing and Anti-Slip Treatments
Sealing provides a protective barrier on tiles and grout, making maintenance easier and extending your floor’s lifespan. For added safety in areas prone to moisture, anti-slip treatments minimize accident risks without altering the tile’s appearance.

Eco-Friendly and Safe Cleaning
At PMAC, we use environmentally friendly, health-conscious products that are ISO 140001 certified, VOC-free, and water repellent. This approach keeps floors cleaner for longer and ensures a safer cleaning process.

Why Choose PMAC?
PMAC’s skilled team uses top-notch machinery and products to make your ceramic tiles look like new. Whether you need deep cleaning, grout restoration, or polishing, we deliver exceptional results.
